"...great hatred, little room, maimed us at the start;
I carry from my mother's womb a fanatic heart."
- W.B. Yeats
This quote probably tells you all about me that you need to know. Call me Lucas, Luc, Luka or Luka-Lu; I have about as many different names as I do facets of my personality, but at the crux of it all I'm a passionate person and a fanatic about the causes and people that matter to me. Other things: I pursue a darker aesthetic, beauty in decadence...I find a lot of brilliant gems/social satire in pop culture...and if I can't create something (be it a painting, a drawing, a piece of clothing, whatever) I might as well not breathe.
I tend to agree with Baudrillard that we live in a world of "simulacra and simulation" and so it's always my intent - in the way that I love, in the way that I act, in what I do and create - to be original and honest and completely open, to try to strike closer to the heart of both matter and meaning. Sincerity, integrity, and honesty matter to me in everything; I try to consistently demand them from myself.
I may be entirely guilty of thinking too much. But I'd rather be guilty of that than thinking too little.
